Setting up student accounts

How to add and manage student accounts

For reference, SSO is Single Sign On. This is when students can sign in to miMove using their school email and username. It is far more common in secondary schools than primary schools.

Wonde is a 3rd party integration platform that allows miMove to 'speak' to your school management information system (MIS). Almost all UK schools use Wonde. This is by far and away the preferred option. Wonde integration means that your student accounts are always up-to-date. If a student moves class, joins or leaves the school, no manual update is required and a scheduled sync will update miMove accounts.

There are a number of options for setting up student accounts:

  1. SSO with Wonde using Wonde MyLogin
  2. Using miMove username and password with Wonde
  3. SSO without Wonde integration
  4. Using miMove username and password via manual impor

1. SSO with Wonde using Wonde MyLogin

This is most commonly used by secondaryy schools.

It is the easiest to set up and manage accounts as no human effort is required. Students have the same username and password for all their apps.

If you choose this option, we send an authorisation request via Wonde to your named Wonde person. They will need to reply and approve the Wonde connection request. Once this is approved they need to click on the MyLogin banner within your Wonde portal to sign up. Alternatively, they can reach out to support@wonde.com or call them on 01638 438094. Once this is done your student accounts are created and they can sign in using their school email and usual password.

2. Using miMove username and password with Wonde

This is most commonly used by primary schools.

If you choose this option, we send an authorisation request via Wonde to your named Wonde person. They will need to reply and approve the Wonde connection request. Once this is approved we receive notification and we sync with your MIS.

Every student will be set up with:
Username: Their full name
Password: They will be allocated a random, 4 character password.

To download all student passwords, go to USERS > EXPORT STUDENTS

3. SSO without Wonde integration

This spreadsheet shows the column headings that are needed (in the EXACT format) to import into miMove so you can copy and paste the students’ data into the example spreadsheet and rename it.

As it says, to set up an account the required data is

Student Full Name, Username, Year Group, Class and Gender.

  • For SSO, insert the student's email as their username.
  • For non SSO, we recommend using the student's full name as their usernmane.

When formatting the CSV spreadsheet please note the following:

The following are required

  • Student Full Name: Name as you would like it to be listed.
  • Username: Username (student’s full name or unique school ID)
  • Year Group: This is the equivalent to ‘Grade’ (USA) or ‘Standard’ (India)
  • Class: Class name as you would like it to be listed.
  • Gender: Male, Female, Non-Binary.

The following are optional. They allow for fuller analysis to monitor the impact of your work. If you are not entering this information, insert No for Pupil P{remium, SEND and EAL and NOBT for ethnicity.

  • Pupil Premium: Yes or No.
  • Ethnicity: Codes (as below).
  • SEND: Yes or No.
  • EAL: Yes or No.

We use the UK Government's ethnicity codes to try to ensure consistency. We hope this fits with your school system. If not, you may need to carry out ‘Find and Replace’. Please enter the 4-character code as it appears in this document.

When the spreadsheet is complete, save as CSV and click CHOOSE FILE > UPLOAD FILE
