Focus Area: Class* Challenge
Using 'team' challenges to enhance levels of activity
Purpose
Raising levels of activity amongst students by utilising group-based motivation.
This is frequently used to launch miMove.
Who it is for
All students
*Some schools will use other groupings, such as Houses.
- Remind students to record their activity
- Encourage classmates to use the Tag feature in miFriends - this is a great way to build traction
- Work with the class teacher to support the least engaged students e.g. buddy with them so that they attend a club
Suggested duration
4-6 weeks
What success looks like
- High level participation reflected in high miMove usage.
- Build excitement by publishing a weekly class list of classes that met the previous weeks' challenge
- Each class creates a display from the photos uploaded of each student doing their thing. Suggested display titles
- Our happy places
- This is miMove
- WeMove
How miMove supports it
Give the decision to each class what they wish to set as their weekly target. Here are some examples:
- Collectively record at least 200 hours of activity
- Every class member records a minimum of 3 activities per week
Evidence you’ll have at the end
- Weekly activity increases by class
- Students or classes that require additional support
- A clear picture of where students are active e.g. in or out of school
- A break down of activity by inclusion - SEND, pupil premium, Gender and Ethnicity or combination
